Grampound is a small village in Cornwall, England, set beside the winding River Fal a few miles east of Truro. Its name derives from the Norman French "grand pont" or "great bridge", a reminder of its medieval riverside crossing and market-town origins surrounded by farmland and lanes.
Historically it was a notable parliamentary borough - famously disenfranchised in the early 19th century for corruption - so the village punches above its size for historical interest. Today it’s largely a quiet rural community of stone cottages, small businesses and farms, with many residents commuting to nearby towns and a steady trickle of visitors drawn to its sense of place and Cornish countryside.
