The Rame Peninsula is a quiet, rural spur in south‑east Cornwall, tucked between the English Channel and the River Tamar and dominated by the headland of Rame Head. The compact riverside village of St. Germans sits on the river, with a notable medieval church and a historic quay that hint at its former role in river trade and occasional smuggling in earlier centuries.
Today the area combines mixed farming, small‑scale fishing, seasonal tourism and a number of residents who commute to nearby Plymouth. It’s prized for coastal walks, sailing and an unspoilt character - village life still centres on pubs, village halls and local events, which give the peninsula a strong sense of community often described as Cornwall’s “forgotten corner”.
