St. Germans is a small riverside village and parish in south‑east Cornwall, England, sitting on the tidal River Tiddy where it meets the River Lynher. It lies in the scenic Tamar Valley close to Saltash and within easy commuting distance of Plymouth, with its own station on the Cornish main line that keeps the village connected despite its rural setting.
Historically the village grew as a modest river port and ecclesiastical centre: the ancient priory church of St. Germans contains notable medieval fabric and fittings, and the settlement was for a long time a parliamentary borough that lost its representation under the Reform Act of 1832. Today the local economy is largely agricultural and residential, supplemented by tourism, waterside leisure and small local businesses, and the place retains a compact core of period houses, pubs and a strong sense of community typical of rural Cornwall.
