Addiscombe East sits in the north‑east of the London Borough of Croydon, covering part of the historic Addiscombe neighbourhood and sitting not far from East Croydon station. The area is predominantly residential, with a mix of Victorian terraces, mid‑20th century council housing and newer apartment developments, and benefits from strong rail and tram links into central London, making it a practical commuter neighbourhood.
Historically the locality grew out of suburban expansion in the 19th century and the nearby site of the old Addiscombe Military Seminary still colours the area’s identity. Today the ward is culturally diverse, with independent shops, cafes and small businesses on its high streets, alongside social housing and ongoing regeneration projects that reflect wider housing pressures and local community engagement across Croydon.
