Moresby Parks is a small village just outside Whitehaven in the historic county of Cumberland (now in Cumbria), on the west coast of England. It sits on the coastal plain with easy access to the Irish Sea and nearby headlands such as St Bees Head, so it’s a handy base for coastal walks and for exploring the Cumbrian coast.
The settlement has strong roots in the county’s industrial past, developing as part of the local coal-mining and working-class communities and sitting close to the medieval seat of the Moresby family at Moresby Hall. Today it is largely residential, with local social life centred on village amenities and commuting links into Whitehaven, while visitors are drawn by the area’s history and nearby coastal scenery.
