Scarcliffe is a small village and civil parish in the district of Bolsover, in Derbyshire, England. Perched on rolling farmland at the eastern edge of the Peak District, it lies a short drive from Bolsover and Chesterfield and is surrounded by a patchwork of fields and hedgerows popular with walkers.
The parish still shows traces of its 19th–20th-century industrial past - disused railway cuttings and mining-era settlements, including the notable Scarcliffe Tunnel - but today the local economy is largely agricultural with many residents commuting to nearby towns. Community life centres on the village hall, church and pub, and the quiet countryside setting, together with nearby attractions such as Bolsover Castle, gives it a distinctly rural, close‑knit feel.
