Carsington is a civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England. Set on rolling limestone and gritstone countryside, it overlooks the large reservoir Carsington Water, a striking modern landmark used for sailing, walking and birdwatching and a magnet for visitors from across the county.
The area has a long past - archaeological excavations carried out when the reservoir was created uncovered Roman and later remains - and historically the local economy has centred on farming and mineral working, including lead and limestone. Today the parish retains a small, close-knit community with a parish council, rural houses and farms, and benefits from tourism and outdoor recreation linked to the reservoir and proximity to the Peak District.
