Eyam is a small village in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, sitting on the edge of the Peak District. Nestled in a limestone dale, it is characterised by honey‑coloured stone cottages, dry‑stone walls and easy access to popular walking routes, giving it a very rural, picturesque feel.
Its international reputation comes from the 1665–66 self‑imposed quarantine during the Great Plague, commemorated around the village by a plague stone, plaques and a local museum; that history now draws many visitors. The local economy mixes tourism, small‑scale farming and craft businesses, and the community still marks the story through events and interpretation for visitors.
