Calver is a compact village in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, tucked into the Derwent Valley within the Peak District National Park. It sits beside the River Derwent and along the A623, making it a handy base for walkers and climbers exploring nearby gritstone edges and limestone dales; the market towns of Bakewell and Hathersage are a short drive away.
Historically the settlement grew around river-powered mills and you can still see stone mill buildings and a weir on the river, reminders of its industrial past. Today Calver is mainly residential with a strong outdoor-tourism feel - a village pub and community activities remain focal points, while many visitors come for walking, cycling and paddling on the Derwent.
