Grindleford is a small village in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, tucked into the eastern side of the Peak District. It sits beside the River Derwent and is a popular base for walkers and climbers because of nearby gritstone edges and moorland such as Froggatt Edge and Burbage Rocks. The village is served by a station on the Hope Valley Line, making it convenient both for day visitors and commuters travelling to Sheffield and beyond.
Historically the area grew from farming and small-scale industry, and nearby Padley Hall and Padley Chapel are reminders of its rich past - Padley is known for the 16th-century martyrdom connected to the recusant Catholic history of the region. Today Grindleford has a close-knit community with a few pubs, cafes and guesthouses; tourism and outdoor recreation are important to the local economy while conservation and National Trust land such as the Longshaw Estate help preserve the surrounding landscape.
