Little Hucklow is a tiny, tranquil parish tucked into the limestone uplands of the Peak District within the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England. Its setting on the White Peak’s rolling, dry-stone-walled fields gives long views and a sense of remoteness despite being close to the slightly larger village of Great Hucklow; the settlement is characterised by stone cottages, scattered farms and a small, close-knit population.
Historically the area was shaped by agriculture and the local lead-mining industry, and you can still make out old mine workings and field patterns in the landscape. Today the parish’s quiet lanes, public footpaths and wildlife-rich limestone pastures make it attractive to walkers and naturalists, while community life tends to revolve around rural pursuits, conservation interests and occasional local events rather than commerce or large-scale tourism.
