Spinkhill is a small village in North East Derbyshire, Derbyshire, England, sitting on the rural–urban fringe not far from Killamarsh and Renishaw. It has a compact, village feel surrounded by rolling countryside but is within easy commuting distance of Sheffield and Chesterfield, which makes it popular with families wanting a quieter base close to larger towns.
The village is perhaps best known for the presence of Mount St Mary’s College, an independent Catholic school that gives the place a strong religious and communal identity. Historically the area shares the wider North East Derbyshire story of small-scale farming and links to local industry and mining, but today Spinkhill is largely residential with a mix of community amenities and attractive local walking countryside.
