Tawstock is a small rural parish on the southern fringe of Barnstaple in North Devon, Devon, England. It sits amid gently rolling farmland and wooded hollows above the Taw valley, with easy access to the North Devon coast and the hills of Exmoor, so both countryside and seaside are within easy reach.
Historically the community has been centred on the estate of Tawstock Court and the parish St Peter's Church, the latter noted for its monuments and medieval fabric, and the estate was long associated with the Northcote family (later Earls of Iddesleigh). Today the area combines farming and small-scale tourism with commuter links into Barnstaple, and retains an active local community involved in village events and conservation of its historic buildings and landscape.
