Yarnscombe is a small village and civil parish in the district of Torridge in north Devon, England, set among rolling farmland and hedgerow-lined lanes typical of the area. The settlement is made up of scattered stone cottages and farmsteads with a historic parish church and a few listed buildings; the surrounding countryside is used largely for mixed agriculture and provides pleasant walking country rather than dramatic tourist infrastructure.
Locally the community is small and close-knit, with village events and a hall often at the heart of social life; economically it relies on farming, local trades and commuters travelling to nearby towns such as Bideford and Barnstaple. Its quiet rural character, traditional architecture and proximity to North Devon’s coast and valleys make it representative of the quieter, agricultural side of the county.
