Dittisham is a compact, picturesque riverside village on the eastern bank of the River Dart, tucked into the rolling countryside of the South Hams in Devon, England. Its steep lanes, weathered cottages and terraces look across the estuary towards Dartmouth, making it a popular stopping point for river cruises, yachts and kayakers and giving the village a strong waterside character.
Historically a small port with ties to river trade and boatbuilding, today Dittisham lives largely off tourism, leisure boating and a close‑knit local community; there are cafés, a few local shops and seasonal events rather than heavy industry. It’s also a good base for walking and exploring the South Hams countryside, noted for its scenic views and relaxed village life.
