Exmouth sits at the mouth of the River Exe on the coast of East Devon, Devon, England. It has a long sandy seafront and easy access to the South West Coast Path, with Orcombe Point marking the western end of the Jurassic Coast; the nearby Exe Estuary and Dawlish Warren are internationally important for wading birds.
Originally a small fishing port, Exmouth grew into a Victorian seaside resort after the arrival of the railway (now the Avocet Line to Exeter), and today its economy is driven by tourism, watersports and a sizeable retiree and commuter population. The town still hosts arts and music events around venues such as the Exmouth Pavilion, and retains a relaxed seaside character with cafés, sailing clubs and family-friendly beaches.
