Ivybridge East is the eastern portion of the market town of Ivybridge in the South Hams district of Devon, England. It sits in the wooded valley of the River Erme, close to the southern edge of Dartmoor, and has a distinctive Victorian viaduct and the ivy-clad bridge that gave the town its name. The ward benefits from the A38 corridor, making it a convenient spot for commuters while retaining a strong riverside and rural character.
Historically the settlement grew around mills on the river, and today the area mixes local retail and light industry with residential neighbourhoods and recent housing development. There’s an active community life with sports clubs and walking and cycling routes into the surrounding countryside; many residents value the combination of accessible services and proximity to open moorland and coastal scenery, as well as links to nearby Plymouth for employment and amenities.
