Yealmpton is a sizeable village and civil parish in the South Hams district of Devon, England, set in the green valley of the River Yealm about nine miles south‑east of Plymouth. The village clusters around a medieval parish church and retains characterful stone buildings, narrow lanes and surrounding orchards and farmland; it was once linked to Plymouth by a branch railway in the early 20th century, traces of which still mark the local landscape.
Today Yealmpton blends agriculture and commuter life with an active community spirit - local shops, pubs, a primary school and village organisations stage fetes, shows and seasonal events - while the nearby estuary and riverside hamlets draw boaters and walkers, giving the area a quiet, small‑scale tourism appeal.
