Litton Cheney is a small, picturesque village in West Dorset, set among the rolling chalk of the Dorset Downs and the wooded valleys of the Bride Valley. A few miles inland from the Jurassic Coast, it has the compact feel of a traditional rural settlement – stone cottages, a historic parish church and the traces of much older, prehistoric activity in the surrounding fields and downland.
The local economy remains largely agricultural, with many residents also commuting to nearby towns such as Dorchester and Bridport, while walkers and birdwatchers are drawn by nearby footpaths and wildlife-rich hedgerows. Social life in Litton Cheney tends to centre on village events, the church and community gatherings, giving it a quiet but cohesive character typical of rural Dorset.
