Long Bredy is a small village and civil parish in west Dorset, tucked into the wooded Bride Valley on the chalk slopes of the Dorset Downs. The surrounding landscape forms part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the village lies within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast, so it often appeals to walkers and visitors after quiet countryside rather than busy seaside tourism.
There is visible evidence of ancient settlement in the surrounding hills, and the village keeps a cluster of traditional stone cottages and a parish church at its heart. Agriculture remains important to the local economy, now supplemented by small-scale tourism and people who commute to larger towns, while a small, active community preserves local traditions and occasional village events.
