Winfrith Newburgh is a small village and civil parish in Dorset, England, set a few miles inland from the south coast and within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast. It retains a distinctly rural feel of farmland, hedgerows and a compact village centre, and many residents commute to nearby market towns such as Dorchester and Wareham.
A notable local feature is Winfrith Heath, an area of lowland heath important for wildlife and well known for having hosted a major research establishment in the 20th century; parts of the former site have been repurposed for light industry and community use. Village life is typical of Dorset parishes, centred on countryside pursuits, conservation interests and local clubs and church activities.
