Worth Matravers is a small village and civil parish on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, England, a few miles west of Swanage. It perches above the dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, with headlands such as St Aldhelm's Head and disused quarries around Winspit, offering sweeping views across the English Channel.
Historically the area revolved around Purbeck stone quarrying and small-scale farming, and the medieval de Matravers family gave the village its name; today tourism, walking and conservation are important to the local economy. The long-established pub, the Square and Compass, is famed for its fossil displays and lively community atmosphere, while the fossil-rich coast and peaceful inland lanes attract geologists and walkers alike.
