Etchingham is a small village and civil parish in the district of Rother, in East Sussex in the south of England. Set in the undulating, wooded landscape of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it keeps a distinctly rural feel with hedgerow-lined lanes, farmland and a number of timber-framed and listed buildings reflecting medieval and early‑modern origins.
The village has a parish church, a village hall, a pub and small local businesses, and historically developed around a manor; architectural traces of that past remain. Etchingham is served by a station on the Hastings line, so it’s popular with commuters travelling to London and nearby coastal towns such as Hastings, while agriculture and small-scale enterprises continue to shape the local economy and community life.
