East Hoathly with Halland is a compact civil parish in the district of Wealden, set in the rolling, wooded landscape of the High Weald in East Sussex. The area is marked by mixed farmland, scattered ancient woodlands and attractive 17th- and 18th-century cottages, with a village green, a medieval church and a few listed buildings that hint at a long agricultural and small‑scale industrial past typical of the Weald.
Today the community combines traditional rural activity with commuter living, being within easy reach of Lewes and Uckfield and the wider Brighton and South Coast employment area. Local life centres on village halls, pubs and clubs, occasional fetes and conservation-minded initiatives, while small businesses and farming still play a noticeable role in the parish economy and social fabric.
