Upper Willingdon is a largely rural ward on the northern edge of Eastbourne, within the Wealden district of East Sussex. It occupies the higher ground around the village of Willingdon, characterised by rolling farmland, hedgerows and open views towards the South Downs, so it feels more village than suburban despite its proximity to the coast.
The area retains a strong sense of history and community: a historic church and traditional cottages give a village core, while agriculture and pockets of chalk grassland and hedgerow wildlife reflect its rural economy and conservation interest. Many residents commute to nearby towns, but local clubs, village events and a quiet, pastoral character keep a distinct social identity.
