Billericay is a historic market town and civil parish in the borough of Basildon, in Essex, England, lying roughly 25 miles east of London. It retains a compact, village-like centre of Georgian and Victorian streets, with a medieval parish church, St Mary Magdalen, and several conservation areas that hint at its coaching‑town past and longer rural roots.
The parish is prized for green spaces such as Norsey Wood and Lake Meadows, popular for local events and walks, and benefits from strong rail links into London which underpin its commuter economy. Locally there’s a healthy mix of independent shops, community groups, sports clubs and regular festivals, giving the place an active social life while remaining quieter and more suburban than the larger towns nearby.
