Fryerns is a largely residential ward on the edge of Basildon in Essex, England, forming part of the post‑war Basildon new town expansion. It sits a short distance from Basildon town centre and main transport links such as the A127 and Basildon railway station, and is characterised by a mix of council and private housing, small shopping parades and pockets of public green space.
The area has a community focus with local schools, centres and voluntary groups, and has seen waves of regeneration and investment in recent years. Economically many residents commute to nearby business parks or to London, while culturally the neighbourhood benefits from the wider leisure and health facilities of Basildon, including proximity to larger employers and services such as Basildon University Hospital.
