Doddinghurst is a village and civil parish in the borough of Brentwood in Essex, England, lying a few miles north‑west of Brentwood and within easy commuting distance of London. It feels distinctly rural despite the proximity of major roads and commuter links, with a mix of village housing, small shops and local businesses serving residents.
The settlement is set among farmland and pockets of ancient woodland, a character reflected in its Old English name - essentially “Dodda’s wood”. There’s a strong village community centred on the church, village hall and sports clubs, and a number of historic buildings and lanes that hint at a long agricultural past rather than any heavy industry.
