Rochford is a small town and civil parish in south Essex, England, set beside the winding River Roach a few miles inland from the coast and close to Southend-on-Sea. Its compact centre preserves a medieval market-town feel with an old parish church and riverside history, while the surrounding marshes and estuary offer notable birdlife and pleasant walking country.
Today Rochford functions largely as a local service and commuter hub with independent shops, pubs and some light industry, but it still wears its history openly - there is an aviation legacy from a Second World War airfield nearby - and decent rail and road links to Southend-on-Sea and London give it a mix of village character and practical modern living.
