Kempsford is a small village and civil parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, set on low-lying floodplain close to the River Thames and a few miles from the market towns of Fairford and Lechlade. The surrounding farmland and easy access to rolling Cotswold countryside give it a distinctly rural character despite decent links to nearby towns.
The village has ancient roots - the nearby Battle of Kempsford around 800 AD is noted in early chronicles - and retains a medieval parish church and some historic buildings. The local economy is largely agricultural with a handful of small businesses, while community life centres on a village hall, a pub and seasonal events; it’s popular with walkers and people looking for a quiet rural base.
