The Siddington & Cerney Rural ward sits in the southern part of the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, close to the market town of Cirencester. It encompasses the village of Siddington and the rural hinterland around South Cerney, characterised by rolling limestone countryside, traditional Cotswold stone buildings and a network of lakes and wetlands where former gravel workings have become the Cotswold Water Park - popular for wildlife, sailing and other outdoor recreation.
Historically the area owes much to agricultural and Roman-era influences radiating from Cirencester, and you’ll still find medieval churches, farmsteads and listed cottages dotted through the parish. Economically it mixes farming and local services with a tourism and leisure trade linked to the water park, while many residents commute to nearby towns; socially the ward retains active village communities with halls, pubs and regular local events.
