The Rissingtons sit on the limestone slopes of the Rissington Downs in the heart of the Cotswolds AONB within the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire. The cluster includes the older villages of Great Rissington and Little Rissington alongside the more recent residential settlement of Upper Rissington, and is characterised by honey‑coloured stone houses, dry limestone grassland and winding country lanes popular with walkers.
Historically the area dates back to the medieval period and retains several listed buildings and parish churches, while the nearby RAF Little Rissington airfield adds a notable 20th‑century military heritage and occasional aviation events. Locally the economy centres on farming, small businesses and a modest tourist trade, with a tight‑knit village social life revolving around pubs, village halls and annual fetes, and many residents commuting to Cheltenham and Gloucester for work.
