Podsmead

The electoral ward of Podsmead sits to the north of central Gloucester in Gloucestershire, England. Largely residential, it was mainly developed as interwar and post‑war council housing and lies close to the green open space of Robinswood Hill, giving residents easy access to countryside while remaining within reach of the city.

Today Podsmead is known for a strong local community presence - schools, a community centre and small local shops - and has been the focus of regeneration schemes and social initiatives to boost housing, training and employment. While it shares some of the social and economic challenges of former industrial areas, active residents’ groups and local projects contribute to a noticeable communal spirit.
