Clissold is a north-eastern ward of the Hackney borough in London, centred on the much-loved Clissold Park. The park, with its listed mansion, ornamental ponds, small animal enclosure and café, gives the area a leafy, community-focused feel; surrounding streets are a mix of Victorian terraces, social housing and independent shops and cafés linking to nearby Stoke Newington and Newington Green.
The ward is culturally lively and socially mixed, home to long-standing local communities alongside newer professionals and creatives, and has a strong tradition of community activism - local groups campaigned to restore the park and still run events and gardening projects. Economically it shows the contrasts common across inner London: rising property values and trendy food-and-arts businesses sit alongside council estates and grassroots social provision, giving the area a distinct, engaged neighbourhood character.
