West Tytherley is a small village and civil parish in the Test Valley district of Hampshire, close to the border with Wiltshire and on the fringe of chalk downland that leads towards Salisbury Plain. The surrounding countryside is typical of the area: rolling arable fields, hedgerows and access to famous chalk streams such as the River Test, which helps give the locality a strong rural and recreational character, popular with walkers and anglers.
Historically the village has medieval roots and retains a number of older cottages and farm buildings, giving it a well-preserved, traditional feel. The local economy remains largely agricultural with some equestrian activity, alongside residents who commute to nearby towns; socially it’s centred on village institutions and events, with a close-knit community that values conservation and the village’s quiet country lifestyle.
