St Agnes is the southernmost inhabited island and civil parish of the Isles of Scilly, off the Cornish coast of England. The island is low‑lying with granite outcrops, windswept heath and long sandy bays, and at low tide a narrow sandbar links it to the tiny neighbour Gugh, creating one of the archipelago’s most striking tidal landscapes.
Life on St Agnes revolves around a small, close‑knit community that depends on tourism, small‑scale agriculture and the islands’ flower trade, with plenty of walkers, birdwatchers and sea‑swimmers in summer. The island is rich in history and archaeology - ancient burial chambers and other prehistoric sites dot the landscape - and its shores have long been shaped by shipwrecks and the traditions of seafaring that characterise the Isles of Scilly.
