Upper Hardres is a small, rural village a few miles south‑west of Canterbury in Kent, England, set among rolling farmland and the lanes typical of the North Downs foothills. The landscape around the village is largely agricultural, with a mix of arable fields, hedgerows and scattered historic farmsteads, and it sits close to the neighbouring settlement of Lower Hardres, sharing the quiet, village character of this part of East Kent.
Historically the name comes from the medieval Hardres family who held land here, and the village still shows that long past in its parish church and a number of older cottages and manor houses. Today Upper Hardres combines a farming heritage with a commuter role for people working in Canterbury, and retains a small, close‑knit community feel with local events and conservation of its rural character.
