The parish of St. Margaret's at Cliffe sits on the famous chalk headland above the White Cliffs of Dover, a few miles from the port town of Dover in Kent, England. Its exposed position on the English Channel gives sweeping views across to France and the dramatic coastal scenery has long defined the village's identity.
Historically the community grew from farming and small-scale fishing and was heavily shaped by coastal defence and wartime activity - pillboxes, batteries and cliff tunnels remain visible reminders of the Second World War. Today the parish is a small, close-knit place where tourism, conservation and commuting to nearby towns all play a part, and where walkers, birdwatchers and local arts and church events help sustain a lively community spirit.
