Whitfield is a large village and suburban area just to the north of Dover in Kent, England. Sitting along the main route out of the town, it occupies low-lying land below the chalk ridges that give you quick access to the White Cliffs of Dover and the busy Port of Dover, and it functions as a convenient commuter spot for nearby centres such as Canterbury.
Historically an agricultural settlement, Whitfield grew substantially in the 20th century with post‑war housing and light industrial development; today it mixes older cottages and modern estates with business parks, retail outlets and community facilities. The area has a village feel in parts but also ongoing development pressures and local debates about housing, infrastructure and preserving pockets of historic character.
