Lydden is a small rural village in the district of Dover, in the county of Kent in south-east England. It sits on the chalk slopes of the North Downs overlooking a narrow valley, and retains a mix of traditional flint-and-brick cottages and farmland with a small, close-knit community and a modest parish church reflecting medieval origins.
The village is best known regionally for the nearby Lydden Hill race circuit, an important motorsport venue that helped pioneer rallycross and brings visitors and weekend activity to the locality; otherwise the local economy is largely agricultural with many residents commuting to Dover or Canterbury. The surrounding downs provide popular walking country and a calm contrast to the busy port and coast close by.
