Leeds is a small rural village and civil parish in the borough of Maidstone, in the county of Kent, England. Set in rolling countryside of orchards and arable fields a few miles from the county town, the parish is dominated by the island site of Leeds Castle, with grounds fed by the River Len and a landscape that still feels typically Kentish.
The castle - with origins in the 12th century, a period as a royal residence and later as a private estate - is the parish’s economic and cultural hub, attracting visitors, events and filming; its restored gardens and seasonal programmes help sustain local businesses and tourism. Away from the visitor hub there is a small residential community centred on the village and church, with local governance linked to the wider Maidstone borough.
