Hapton is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Burnley, in Lancashire, England, lying just south‑west of the town of Burnley and close to Padiham. It sits on the edge of the Lancashire plain with the hills of Rossendale rising nearby, giving a mix of lowland and rolling countryside, and its proximity to the M65 makes commuting into Burnley or Manchester straightforward.
Historically the village expanded with coal mining and the cotton industry in the 19th century, and that industrial heritage can still be sensed in terraces and old works; today Hapton is largely residential with pockets of farmland and green space popular with walkers, while community life is centred on local amenities and ties to the wider Burnley area as the economy has diversified since the decline of traditional industries.
