Padiham is a small former mill town in the borough of Burnley, in Lancashire, England, set on the banks of the River Calder and with countryside rising towards Pendle and the Forest of Bowland. Its location gives ready access to rural walks while remaining close to the facilities of Burnley town centre.
Padiham grew up around 19th‑century cotton and textile mills and, like many Lancashire towns, saw industrial decline in the 20th century followed by gradual regeneration and new housing on former industrial sites. Heritage interest is nearby at the Tudor house Gawthorpe Hall, and the town still retains a strong local, working‑class character with active community groups, local shops and regular events.
