Padiham sits on the banks of the River Calder a few miles west of Burnley in Lancashire, tucked beneath the lower slopes of the Pennines with clear views towards Pendle Hill. Its riverside location and proximity to the M65 give it a semi-rural feel while keeping good road links to the surrounding towns and moorland.
The town has a strong industrial heritage - formerly a centre for cotton mills and coal-related industry, with a power station that dominated the skyline until recent redevelopment - and you’ll still find heritage projects and community efforts celebrating that past. Nearby Gawthorpe Hall (run by the National Trust) and local parks add cultural interest, and the area has been focused on regeneration, local events and a mix of small industry and commuter residents.
