Gisburn is a scattered village and civil parish in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England, set on rolling farmland and moorland close to the River Ribble and the fringes of the Forest of Bowland AONB. The A59 runs nearby, giving reasonable road links for a rural community whose economy still leans heavily on agriculture, forestry and countryside tourism.
History and landscape are prominent here: the local Gisburne Park estate and surrounding countryside reflect centuries of rural development, while Gisburn Forest is a popular spot for walking and mountain biking. The village retains traditional features such as its parish church and village amenities, and its administrative transfer from the West Riding of Yorkshire to Lancashire in 1974 is a reminder of the area’s shifting county boundaries.
