Gisburn Forest is a large, managed woodland on the eastern edge of the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, England, sitting on the Pennine fringe where rolling moorland meets commercial conifer plantation. The parish includes extensive forestry rides and tracks, lies close to Stocks Reservoir and offers long views towards Pendle and the Yorkshire Dales, and forms part of the broader Forest of Bowland landscape.
Much of the forest was established and is managed by the Forestry Commission, and today its economy is a mix of timber production, outdoor recreation and rural agriculture; it’s well known locally for waymarked walks and mountain‑bike trails that bring visitors and support small-scale tourism. The area is sparsely populated with scattered farms and a strong rural community, and it sits near historic estates such as Gisburne Park, giving a neat blend of industrial forestry, countryside leisure and local history.
