Aberford is a small village and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, set on the old Great North Road about seven miles east of the city centre. It sits in an attractive river valley beside Cock Beck, surrounded by farmland and parkland, with the Edwardian country house of Lotherton Hall and the commuter town of Garforth not far away.
The village retains a strong historic character - its medieval parish church of St Ricarius, visible earthworks and echoes of its coaching‑route past give it a distinct sense of place. Today Aberford mixes rural leisure (walking, riding and country estates) with a commuter economy thanks to easy road links via the A1, while local shops, pubs and community events help preserve its village atmosphere.
