East Ardsley is a village on the edge of the City of Leeds in West Yorkshire, sitting roughly between Leeds and Wakefield. It grew up as part of the industrial belt of the region, with historic links to coal mining and textiles, and today feels like a suburban village framed by patches of greenbelt and open countryside while remaining well connected to the wider motorway and rail networks.
Locally it has a small high street, pubs, churches and a primary school that help support a fairly mixed, commuter-oriented population who travel into the nearby cities for work. There are still reminders of its industrial past alongside newer housing and light industry, and a modest community life with local clubs and occasional events that give it a more close-knit village atmosphere than many outer-city suburbs.
