The village and civil parish of Freiston lies a few miles south‑east of Boston in Lincolnshire, situated on the reclaimed fenland at the edge of The Wash. The area is characteristically flat and criss‑crossed by drainage dykes, with salt marshes and a coastal reserve at Freiston Shore that attracts wintering and migratory waders and geese.
There are echoes of a long history here - the remains of a medieval priory at Freiston Priory and the historic parish church of St James - but today the economy is largely agricultural, with arable farms and small rural businesses, and the village retains a small, close‑knit community shaped by the surrounding fenland landscape.
