North Cotes is a small village in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, in eastern England, sitting on the flat coastal plain a few miles from the North Sea and the salt marshes of the Humber Estuary. The landscape of dunes, marsh and drained fen makes it a quiet spot for birdwatching and coastal walks, while nearby towns such as Grimsby and Mablethorpe provide services and links to larger centres.
Locally the village is best known for the presence of the nearby former airfield RAF North Coates, which played a significant role in coastal operations during the Second World War and whose runways and buildings still mark the area. The economy is largely agricultural with some small businesses and seasonal tourism, and the community retains the close-knit, parish-centred feel typical of coastal Lincolnshire settlements, blending wartime heritage with rural coastal life.
